Our woods and finishes
A very important component of your staircase design is the choice of wood species. Whatever staircase shape you choose, you have access to all our wood species and finishes. Colors and metals can also be used to highlight and enhance the natural beauty of the wood.
Most of our standard woods are considered hardwoods, and are therefore very durable. The softer woods, on the other hand, give a wonderfully natural feel. Whatever you choose, all wood types are solid.
To give a really even, smooth surface to the finish of the strings we use a solid core of pine with MDF on both sides.
The wood types shown below are ATAB Stairs’ standard wood types, which we always keep in stock and can use in your own staircase design at short notice. Of course, it is possible to bring home other types of wood as well. However, delivery times may then be a few weeks longer than normal.
* Note: For staircase design WF, hardwood is required in the treads, risers, handrails, newels and balusters. This means that pine must not be used in these stair parts when choosing Design WF. However, the stringers against the wall do not need to be in a hardwood.
